TFRRS / NCAA XC Exporter

Disclaimer: When using the TFRRS / NCAA XC Results Exporter you must ensure that your results setup is fully compliant with NCAA scoring. An example XC Event setup has been included with this guide which includes an example of a tie-breaker setup using Team Scores. Thanks to Sam Graci of Superior Timing for providing this example.

To access the TFRRS Exporter append &page=exports" to the URL in your browser for the event you want to upload. It is recommended to open a second tab or window for this since you cannot navigate back to the page without refreshing the browser window.

The exporter will generate results from an Output list titled NCAA Results which must be in the correct format, click the Generate button to automatically create this output list in the required format and then select it from the drop down menu.

Event Setup

When setting up your event file for upload to TFRRS there are some specific guidelines which must be used to ensure results are reported correctly.

Data Fields

  • Club should contain the team name, if Club is empty, "Unattached" will be sent in submission.
  • Contests should be each event. If you have a female race and male race then they should be separate contests. Ensure that the Contest Gender is set appropriately for each.
  • The Finish Result must be set for each Contest, this is submitted as the official time.
  • If the Contest is scored by division then enter "1" in to the ContestInfoText4.
Additionally create an ATF named TFRRS_Division, values should be in the format <Division number>:<Division Name>, if no division is entered then 0 is submitted for Division Number and Non-DI for Division Name.
You may wish to enter default selection values for the ATF, for example: ;1:Division1;2:Division2...
  • Create an ATF named TFRRS_ID for the participant's online ID.
  • Create an ATF names TFRRS_Year for the participant's year.
You may wish to enter default selection values for the ATF, for example:
    ;FR;SO;JR;SR
    A year must be submitted.
  • Creat an ATF named TFRRS_TeamCode for the participant's team code.
  • The Event Location Street, City and Zip are submitted for the address.
Meet Venue, Host, Race Director, Referee, Timer and Starter can all be entered under Event Details in the Exporter.
Meet ID, Meet Name and Start/Finish Dates are automatically generated from the TFRRS Meet Listing.

NCAA Scoring

You must setup your scoring according to NCAA rules, in particular with regards to tie-break situations. You should also consider the following for your Results Setup.

  • Team Score 1 must contain the overall Team Scores and is submitted as the team rank.
    • TS1.Time1 should contain the Total Team Score (Points)
  • You will likely need to use additional Team Scores as a Tie-Break helper.
  • Rank1 must be used for the athlete's rank.
  • Create a result named TFRRS_Score which will be the athlete's score (rank) for the team. If they do not contribute for the team then this should be NULL or blank.
You can use the following formula: If([Rank1]>0;[Rank1])
  • Consider that Participants with [Rank1]>0 or [Status]>0 will be submitted.

Splits

Split times can also be sent through the exporter, first tick the Use Splits checkbox below the Results Report. You will now be able to select a split time to send, name it and provide the distance.

Once the splits have been selected the Results Report will be highlighted red, click generate to update the report to include the splits.

Results Submission

Once your event is setup you can setup the Event Details in the TFRRS Exporter, these will be submitted to the Results Page.

Once setup enter your TFRRS Login details below, clicking login will load a list of Meets which are setup on your TFRRS account.

Once you select the relevant meet to upload results to click Generate Results

This will populate an XML file using the NCAA Results Output Template which is why your setup must follow the above guidelines.

If everything looks correct then click Submit and results will be uploaded to TFRRS.

Once succesful a popup diaglog will appear with a link to open the results page on TFRRS.

Example Event

An example event with NCAA compliant scoring has been provided by Sam Graci of Superior Timing.

This contains the relevant scoring requirements for NCAA scoring. Do note that whilst it includes a result field for FinishLynx data (imported via Transponder Module) this is NOT being used for placing currently, but this does aid for quick review of results.
