DTU and RACE RESULT joining forces

Bringing back triathlon races in Germany

The German Triathlon Union (DTU) is increasing its commitment to clubs and organizers in order to make more competitions possible again this year, and at the same time to ensure the best possible health protection at the events. The DTU is now working in cooperation with RACE RESULT, who last year brought the contact tracing solution TAVI to the market, which is specially tailored to events.

“Triathlon lives from events. The triathletes had to forego most of the competitions last year. Our goal is that more triathlon events can take place again this year and the contact tracing solution from RACE RESULT can make a decisive contribution to this. For the organizers and clubs, it is absolutely vital that events become possible again this year, ” says Simon Jung, organization manager for events at DTU.

In spring 2020, the DTU developed a health safety concept that organizers can use as a template for their own events. In addition to aspects such as hygiene measures and social distancing, the traceability of contacts at the event is also considered - a central requirement of the health authorities for the approval of events.

The cooperation between the DTU and RACE RESULT, the German market leader for sports timing, aims to make such contact tracing available to all organizers quickly and cheaply.

In the event that infection is detected, the TAVI solution can subsequently be used to determine who was in the same area with the infected person. For this purpose, RACE RESULT Track Boxes are set up at strategically important positions. Participants and visitors alike receive transponders that are registered via the boxes. The DTU makes the boxes available to the organizers free of charge and the transponders can be purchased at a reduced price thanks to the cooperation.

“We have close ties to athletes and organizers; we all suffer from the cancellations of the past few months. Together with the DTU, we want to finally make competitions possible again, which is why we are happy to support the association and the organizers here, ” emphasizes Felix Schoeppe from RACE RESULT, who helped develop the concept.
