Loop Collision Error

A Loop Collision error means that two active devices within range are running on the same combination of Channel ID and Loop ID.

Each active device sends a status beacon on its channel every second. If a device receives a beacon from another device with its own Channel ID and Loop ID, it reports the collision.

Why is this a problem?

When a transponder sends a detection back, it includes the Channel ID and Loop ID of the loop that activated it. If two devices use the same combination, both treat the detection as their own. Passings from one timing point are then also recorded at the other. Loop Boxes in Repeat Mode also cannot tell which device is the base system if more than one device uses Loop ID 1 on the same channel.

How to solve it

Change the Loop ID on one of the devices so that each device on the same channel has its own Loop ID. Alternatively, move one of the devices to a different channel, as long as it does not need to work with the other device.

When working with Loop Boxes in Repeat Mode, keep them on the same channel as the base system and only change their Loop ID. The base system must keep Loop ID 1.

On the Active Extension, the Loop ID can also be set to auto. The system then listens for other active devices on startup and selects an unused Loop ID. See Active Extension Settings.

Note that passings recorded while the collision was active may have been stored on both devices. Check the passings of both timing points before calculating results.
