Side Activities

Morning Run on Saturday

Run across two bridges and through the Old Town
We run along the northern riverbank of the Neckar river, cross the Old Bridge, run through the Old Town, pass the city hall, back to the Old Town and then along the pedestrian zone "Hauptstraße" back to the Frauenbad. The 5km shall be an easy Morning Run to shake out your legs, prepare your body and brain for the day and chat to your fellow runners.

Meeting Time: 7 AM in front of the Frauenbad
Distance and elevation: 5 km, 20 m elevation gain
Expected Pace: ~6 min/km

GPX Track Morning Run

Morning Walk on Saturday

"Schlangenweg" (Serpentine Path) and "Philosophenweg" (Philosophers' Walk)
We will walk along Neckar river to the Old Bridge. The Serpentine Path starts just above the Old Bridge opposite the Old Town and cuts steeply through terraced vineyards until it reaches the woods, where it crosses the Philosophenweg. It is partly enclosed by bushes and trees, as well as some lovely vineyards, but there are several viewing platforms for terrific views of the city. The Philosophers’ Walk then opens up a true postcard view of the old town, the river, the Old Bridge, the castle, and the King’s Seat, which towers over the city at almost 600 meters.
This sunny spot on the southern slope of the hill of the Saints is reminiscent of Tuscany with its mild climate and vegetation. Unprotected, exotic plants thrive on this climatic island, which is one of the warmest places in Germany: Japanese woolly medlar and American cypress, Spanish broom, Portuguese cherry, lemon, and pomegranate, bamboo, palms, pines. Everything blooms weeks earlier than in the valley.

Meeting Time: 7 AM in front of the Frauenbad
Distance and elevation: 5 km, 100 m elevation gain

Guided City Tour

The tour takes us through the historic Old Town of Heidelberg and to some famous landmarks such as the Old Bridge. Our guide will provide insights into the history and stories of the city, which is now one of the hotspots for tourists from all over the world. The tour is available in English and German. We will return to the conference venue just in time for dinner.

Dinner on Friday

Dinner will be hosted at the "Urban Kitchen" restaurant, conveniently located within the same building complex as the conference venue.
Tables have been reserved to accommodate all attendees, and you will have the option to order à la carte. Kindly understand that due to the high number of guests attending the conference, the kitchen team may not be able to serve all dishes simultaneously.
The bill will be settled by RACE RESULT this evening.
