The main advantage compared to active transponders is the low cost. But it comes with one drawback: passive transponders are sensitive to water.
For optimum read rates, we recommend:
- to ensure a direct line of sight between the HuTag and the antenna. The HuTag should especially not be covered by a wetsuit or the strap. It needs to be mounted in a way that ensures the chip code is always visible.
- to place your systems at the water exit as far away from the water as possible, so the water surrounding the HuTag has time to evacuate before reaching the detection line.
- main and backup lines, particularly at key timing points as the finish line.
Note: When used with Ubidium, you must configure the correct transponder type on the device.
